I'd bet the vast majority of people use livestreams as background noise/second monitor content. I don't see the appeal, but when I looked it up a lot of people say they just use it to drown out silence (low attention span trait).

Some livestreams esp some qnas with some book authors are fun but gaming livestreams are useless if u have the game urself
Still some of my best life memories in childhood were watching some streamers from my country liverstreams as i didnt have money for any pc back in the late 2010s
