Serious why did benjamin frankling said germans where swarthy?

maybe he got that idea from seeings germans farmers, who would spent long hours working under the sun. so he just concluded they where all swarthy.

but honestly I don't think he was talking about skin color, he was refering to the 'whiteness' of their culture. Ben Frank was an anglo after all, he considered most europeans to be nonwhite (even welshmen)

Ye he was very Anglo-Saxon in his worldview, and only considered the North Germans & Dutch as White

South Germans, where most came from, are Alpinid in phenotype which is darker in hair, eyes, and can have a natural tan to it at times
