If I was in the same income bracket as rank in moba I play I'd be rich as fuck.
Unfortunately you have to be in top .0001% to make it to esports, and even then nothing is guaranteed. It's one of the hardest things to get into in terms of skill because anyone can just sit on their ass and play all day until their retinas get fried

its actual a grind 24/7 not really an easy 9-5 like you say it is, you are basically competing against your region or the world for a spot on a team of five for almost any esports game. You are easy to replace so if you are not constantly grinding to improve then you could lose your job just look at the lol scene there are hardly any familiar faces after years of the lcs.

Most people who compete in esports get NOTHING work 2 shitty retail jobs and on top of that have to grind their asses off all day on their favorite game which slowly becomes a chore and job. Ask any esports guy that isn't top rank what it's like. Look at the fighting game community for example of how "AWESOME SAUCE" esport maxing is(yea getting surgery because of carpal tunnel, getting fat, getting no bitches and no money is awesome, at least you get to stream and ENTERTAIN 10 YEAR OLDS YAYAYAYAYAYA!!!)

This ITT also depends on the game. You could be an absolute god in one game then 2 years down the road a new mechanic is introduced that is designed to actually handicap your particular set of skills(they do this in every fighting game ever made)
