It seems that the main reason for this isn't about whats easy or hard, but more about gender identity being much more important as a woman. A woman’s entire personality (if you can call it that) and identity is constructed around being a woman. Doing feminine things, acting feminine, sounding feminine, and the most important part, looking and being perceived as feminine. So if a man wants to be a woman, he would necessarily have to go theough surgery, take hormones etc.

But if a biological woman wants to do masculine things like learning how to weld or how to repair cars or how to build stuff in a 3D printing program, there is no prerequisite that they have to be a man or be masculine, because these things are not stupid and have no gender requirement. But of course if you want to do feminine things and be perceived as a woman, you have to look like a woman.

And of course, like you said, its easier to be a woman so I am sure that really helps push many people in the direction of transitioning
