Both are developed economies capable of funding a big artistic sector with China constituting 1.4 billion yet neither of them are able to produce anything even comparable to anime/manga

Is there something Japanese have that they lack? Some form of soul or something that gives them an edge

Both of them lack nationalism, only reason why Japan has been around is because of their strong sense of nation.

Also because they keep out shitjeets, feminism and Islam.

Japan is much longer into animation, it takes generation of talent building to make something unique. Chinese and Koreans make digital slop.

There are some south korean manhwa that I like more than most japanese manga.

The Japanese are the Aryans of the East. They are genetically superior to all other East Asians. Their media reflects that.

As an East Asian country, Japan has a relatively long industrial history and was therefore able to establish its own animation industry at around the same time as Western countries at the beginning of the 20th century. Korea and China, on the other hand, were utter shitholes until the second half of the 20th century and therefore always regarded Japan as an ideal model to emulate. Their media was no exception.

What I like about south korean manhwa is that they are blackpilled. Living in that country must be hell. But it's also what I dislike, because of how common it is: at the fourth series about the limits of natural talent or an outcast main character, I start to get bored...

in art history, the west has always had a fascination with japan, first when they stopped being hyper isolationists, the "first wave japanism" as i like to call it, this is when impressionists like monet studied xilographies from japan to simplify their paintings, which had great influence in the european art scene as it impacted, for example, Van Gogh. Well, when the internet first started going we got even more insight into this culture that was historically regarded as exotic, starting "second wave japanism", we, in the present are still feeling the inertia from this, seeing anime and manga as cool and exotic when its very similar to art from other countries like china and korea which we were in contact with from way back in the silk road, probs sperged out a little but this should explain it

also they have cooler mechs

Chinese censor everything, my username is a book that was banned for anti nationalism and other Chinese woke bs in China. The Chinese wouldn't even let something similar to attack on Titan or even 1 piece to come out of their country

chinese novels and books are decent in my opinion. Their animations and films suck though.

japan has a natural sauce and weirdness the other chincs dont. generallly the freedom of expression in manga is why so much good shit can come out cause but also why so much more strange garbage exists too.
korean and chinese stuff plays it safe though they are good ones like 'reverened of insanity' or 'castle' and even in this cases its more perfecting something that exists instead of meaking it your own
so basically not enough lolicons and fujoshis

2 bombs, baby

Cause communism basically hard reset everything for china

South Korea is not really a country its like 2 really big villages (seoul and busan) run by Lord Samsung no surprise they are creatively bankrupt there

Manga is serious business in Japan, literally. It's a lot of work to produce quality manga, Japs only do it because it really pays off in their country.

All other countries treat everything drawn as juvenile, second-hand entertainment.

Life is a rat race in China and South Korea. That stress seeps into their creative works, they are too competitive. Japanese creators are more relaxed, they do not feel the need to seek validation from anyone and everyone. Creatives need confidence in themselves and their abilities to produce good work.

:yes::yes:

This type of media seems to be part of Japan's culture and mindset in a way it doesn't yet seem to be of China's and Korea's.

Interesting point of view, I wasn't aware that the West was so enamored with Japan even over a century ago.

Japan is a horrible country and after they lost the war the fascists got away with war crimes hiding behind the media like anime/manga which later got refined after many years of development.

I guess is from getting used to japshit, i've read manhwas but not manhuas, i've seen whatever it is called animated manhuas but not animated manhwas.

For me personally, i like manhwas but i also have see and hear that most manhwas are like level based, mc gets a floating game-like menu where they can level up and shit.
With manhuas, i've read that most of these are basically the cultivation type, where someone starts doing some shit to become poweful shit.
With manga and animes, even thought there's shit like isekai and ecchi things, i feel they're mostly more varied than manhwa game-leveling and manhua cultivation.

And also, the only times i've heard animated chinese anime, i couldn't keep more than 5 minutes due to how fucking different chinese sounds from Japanese, and i was just unable to stand it

Wtf are you on Chinese/south Koreans have lots of nationalism
