Evolution is a literally brain-dead process. Don't give it too much credit. Evolution didn't plan ahead to block out all the possible ways to cheat your own instincts.

That being said, after actually fucking a whore I do agree that the non-sexual physical aspects of sex (body warmth, feeling of being touched, skin contact, pressing your body into hers) are more important and a bit harder to get right than I would have thought. But in the end it still seems nearly ~100% certain that we sooner or later get sexbots that can match or outperform human partners. The real question is if that happens before or after AI has wiped us out.

We are heading towards an unprecedented convergence of different technologies which will accelerate in scope in the coming years (investment has ramped up MASSIVELY in these fields extremely recently). VR tech, artificial intelligence, BCIs, generative AI. It's not a stretch to say that in 10 years AI will be able to read your thoughts, generate the perfect virtual waifu for you, and then simulate her in real time. Whether or not BCI becomes advanced enough to stimulate specific brain regions and senses by then is unknown, but if the singularity occurs as AGI is pushed out it wouldn't be impossible. In the next decade or two you could live in a virtual environment and be able to 'touch' and 'smell' and 'hear' your virtual gf.

There will be no need for real tech, you can simulate it virtually and still have all of the benefits if you implement BCI.
