football used to be less boring about a decade ago. it's unwatchable trash now

but nowadays baseball is a better sport to watch, though I'm not American so I don't follow it closely

Baseball is definitely the worse of the two, I’ve never watched a baseball game to completion, and I didn’t even pay attention in the few times I’ve been to a live baseball game.

One thing the last video talks about, which I also feel, is that the game has become monotonous to me. The game has become a lot slower, a lot safer, and many of the systemic and analytical changes meant to improve the game as of late have led to statistically improved performance at the expense of entertainment, exactly like basketball.

Aside from systemic reasons, personally, I don’t support a team which reduces stakes for me. I don’t care for the MLS much and I don’t really have the same access to the European teams and manager** I used to follow.

The decline of the ability of teams to play end to end, like Mourinho’s old teams did, and my waning interest, are probably related. Technically, that style of play is less efficient than the more patient build up we currently see, but it is more entertaining. Case and point: Liverpool. They’re in the bottom half of shot efficiency but by far the most entertaining team to watch in the PL this year.
