Could either be a misdiagnosis or he didn’t know what to do for each subtest. I never got my IQ tested, but my experience is similar to OP’s, in which adults tried to put me down. I used to have a serious inattentive issue when I was a kid, but my Grade 1 teacher mistook it for mental retardation, so I was almost put in special ed. In Grade 5, my teacher tried to psychologically destroy me by making me look dumber than I actually was to my peers. Since I always struggled to pay attention, she would purposefully ask me questions, and I would usually remain silent because I didn’t want people to laugh at me if I gave a stupid answer. There was also one instance where my teacher praised me for doing well on a math test, and I assumed I got a perfect score because of how much of a big deal she made, but when I got back my result, I only scored 94% which was barely higher than what I would usually get. The other kids saw my mark and assumed the only reason she praised me was because I’m low-IQ and I normally don’t score that high.
