Inkwellos have you ever attended a funeral or was forced by your parents/people around you to attend one?
What was it like to you personally? did you feel that people were acting as if your presence is useless there?

I've been invited to go to a funeral, but rejected it.

This was when I was a kid and it sort of felt uncomfortable.

I'm not sure if I ever saw a dead person or someone ever getting killed (I live in a first world Western country).

I think I may have seen two dead people on each separate occassion. One guy with his back laying up against the wall with his forehead bleeding and the other one with a guy laying face down with a crowd of people surrounding him.

I hate the idea of funerals. I mean once the guy is dead, he's dead. Just bury him and get it over with. I'd personally want my funeral to be skipped and my body to be dumped in a landfill somewhere.

most of us do get these thoughts when they experience seeing a deadman in a coffin in a funeral, I know I did.
seeing a corpse laying on the road is one thing and seeing a corpse in that proximity is something else. it does feel absurd and dark at the same time. it feels like death's presence is still in the place roaming.
the fear of death is great.

Generally, they are for the living for closure, not the dead.

I too think the most you can do to the dead is make them reach the final rest place, everything else is like a ceremony for the living.
