It's considered quirky and also a way for people to consider themselves as minorities even if they are upper middle class white kids.

Nothing but cultural brainwashing. They keep blasting pride parades and being in the news and social media. This normalizes it in the mainstream culture and more people find it socially acceptable to associate with the lifestyle.

It coincided with transfags receiving the most attention on tv and social media, even more than women. The world is all a big transvestite fashion show now. Anyone who claims to be transgender is automatically more special and privileged than anyone who's not trans simply because of their gender (who they are) rather than what they do. And so it all becomes a competition for attention and likes on social media. Straight people arent special anymore so to become special and receive attention and followers they just declare themselves trans as a shortcut.
