Fortnite, It's such a junk food type experience nowadays. So much crap thrown around the map to make it as nauseating for kids to not get bored. So much of it's relevance nowadays only comes from collabs, every new mode they've added has been poorly made, abandoned or both and the worst part is it works. My little niece didn't even know what the hell "fork knight" was one day and all of the sudden she's obsessed because Kpop demon hunter characters made it in. Kids are dumb

Nier: Automata got a lot of praise when it came out for being a button masher with fake deep story. I also agree with the others who mentioned games like The Last of Us and Red Dead Redemption 2. As for Elden Ring, imo it was overhyped before its release (I was hyped for it too as FromSoftware had made some good games like Sekiro and Bloodborne), but when it came out I think that many people realized that it was disappointing but didn't want to admit it. Also, Hollow Knight is not as good as people make it out to be, but, all things considered, its fame is deserved I'd say.

The only game I have ever hyped myself up for extremely was Contagion, Source game based on the Source mod Zombie Panic: Source which was made by the same devs.
I had hoped that it would simply be a more polished version of Zombie Panic Source, but it was something new that I did not like much in the beginning.
But I did back it un Early access. Missed the Patreon support.
Overall I enjoyed it and met a great friend there, who seems to have died a while ago.

No the fuck it isn't, there are crucial moments where you can just say nothing and nothing actually happens, you can make a choice to kill off or save a character but they immediately die anyway in the next episode, your choices do not affect the causaulity of what happens to characters and the story itself.
Therefore it's merely nothing but an illusion of choice.

If has many peak bosses, but the open world is so boring and big that they filled it with copy pasted zones and bosses, and that makes the whole game shine way less than it could have with a smaller world with only the non copy pasted zones and bosses. Just for that reason, even DS2 gave me more fun most of the times.
DS3 had the perfect format, linear and smaller, but precise, little copy paste and lots of amazing bosses.
