only thing I kept is storage didn't buy new monitors either.
before that I ran i7-5930K and 980ti for ~7 years.
when you do the math its not that much. assuming I keep all the parts for 7 years before I renew again it cost $1.37 / day. and thats without considering inflation. and maybe I can sell some parts as well.

I have PCs lying around floor. The problem is that I can get Internet only from one socket where my modem was when the broadband was installed by the ISP. I have old computers with thousands of open tabs that I want to read. But that needs Internet. And it is maybe dangerous to connect to Internet computers that have (very) old operating systems without security (antivirus-programs long ago expired and can't even be reactivated). All kinds of files also on them. I can't just throw them away. So they lie unused. Even if I finish doing everything I want, how to physically get rid of them? I don't have a car and electronic waste collection is far away. I can't transport them. I don't want anyone to access my files. I have broken HDDs also that just take space here, not knowing what to do to them.
Windows 95 and 98 are suitable for systems with 32 or 64 MBs of RAM.
2k and 1080p are the same thing.

ryzen 5600g with a 6600 videocard and 32 gb ram. Most games work, especially the ones I like and my triple monitor setup works flawless. Also very efficient system, draws not more than a traditional lightbulb in idle (monitors included)
