i live in a 3rd world country with an average salary of 0.75 - 1$/h and a cost of living that's almost as expensive as in developed countries. we're still getting by although it might be hard to make it past 40 with everything being so polluted and toxic

i'm saving up 10,000$ to get the lowest slave ticket in japan because of my weak visa. i've been working part time for 4 years and only have 1k2$ saved up. i'm pretty much just living day by day and waiting to die

Total living expenses are rice ($8.5/month), water/electricity/rental ($75/month), something something (~20$). I only save about $80 a month and pray that I don't get sick. There was a period when I was even unemployed and homeless during covid.

I live in southern Vietnam, we are still poor because of those communist dictators.. It's true that I spend about 1.5 times less than the people around me. But many people are more miserable than me and don't have any savings.

In developed countries, if you are homeless, you still have a chance to live, but in the third world, being homeless means death. No one will give you food and everyone will try to chase you away by all means.

I see that Westerners spend more freely, so if they encounter difficulties, they may not be able to endure. In my experience, starch, fiber powder, water and water are enough to survive difficult times
