This study by Cunningham et al. (1990) supports the idea that women's perception of male facial attractiveness is influenced by multiple motives rather than a single trait. The key findings suggest that:

  • Neoteny (Youthfulness) – Large eyes were found to be attractive, likely because they elicit nurturant feelings and convey approachability.
  • Maturity – Prominent cheekbones and a large chin signaled sexual maturity and dominance, traits associated with high-status males.
  • Expressiveness – A big smile made men appear more sociable and approachable, enhancing perceived attractiveness.
  • High-Status Grooming and Wealth Demonstration – Clothing, grooming, and other visible signs of wealth played a significant role in attractiveness. Men who appeared well-dressed and successful were perceived as more desirable, as wealth is often linked to status, security, and resources.
The study also found that attractiveness ratings had a curvilinear relationship with facial maturity—meaning that neither an overly baby-faced nor an excessively mature appearance was ideal, but a balance between neotenous and mature features was preferred.

These findings align with the idea that women seek a mix of traits that signal both warmth and competence, as well as short-term (sexual attractiveness) and long-term (reliability, status, wealth) mate potential.

I have a lot of neoteny but very very no maturity. :feelshehe:

I have

-Narrow eyes fuck my Turkic genes
-Somewhat prominent cheekbones but it's all hidden under lots of fat
-Can't smile widely MY facial muscles don't stretch much

True that. But what about looking like a nerd? Obviously a failo but why?
Because nerds are usually short and weak with bad acne and don’t have a strong chin and prominent cheekbones
