what are your thoughts on shmups?

Stuff like mushihimesama, dondonpachi, ikaruga, hellsinker, absurdly hard fucking games. They look fun but the boring part is to memorize shit.

I think these games vary a lot in difficulty, like most genres.

I think out of that list I wrote only Ikaruga strikes me as difficult and that's mostly just if you're going for long chains.
