As someone who used to live in Bruce Lee's hometown of San Francisco, yes - I do think the Chinese Triad gangs took him out. Even if Bruce Lee was raised in Hong Kong, the Triad gangs control upper-class Asians in the city. No super rich and famous chinaman from San Francisco is going to have immense fame and popularity without coming across the Triads.
