Mechanical work is way more brutal and stressful than you think. I can tell you this because I indeed often work on my own vehicles, and no way I’m putting up with that kind of work all day.

You haven’t known frustration till you try to replace a hydrostatic drive belt on a Craftsman zero turn riding mower from the 2000s. Holy shit, what a rotten project that was. I can tolerate it when it’s my own stuff I work on every so often, but not as a job. The job I’m starting soon is totally unrelated to cars, that way I don’t ruin the joy and magic of the hobby
