I take the meaning "middle age" close to literal. The life expectancy now is 75-80 years old. So youre late 30s and early 40s would be "middle age".
Edit: Before when the life expectancy was lets say 60, then 30 would have been middle age. Thats also why everyone had to "grow up" faster. Females used to get married at 16 and males sent off to war at the same age. Now we have cucked "age of consent" laws.
