The existence of smartphones has wrecked society so much, and high speed internet after 2012 is a lot to blame. The thing is, there was Nokia 3310 era where communication was done on text based, with phone numbers you already knew.

No social media, dating apps(there were a few websites but the effort took was high), no "swiping of life" etc.
