I think that in a normal society women don't really have much of a choice in their sexual partners. That choice is only done by nature and women just have kids with the survivors or natural selection.

In the first paragraph, itself I'd say there are many faults in the assumptions. Early human society wasn't that egalitarian. Sure, it was not a system where only men made decisions. But women still looked upto men for many things and Men used to make most innovative decisions etc.
