Yes, I understand what you mean, and I even agree with you to a certain extent.
On the other hand, I've always been a realist and, of course, grew up with various conflicts, rivalries, and different mentalities. It's hard to get that out of people.
Even within Germany, Germans often don't really like each other, let alone understand each other, due to different dialects. As a Rhinelander, I always have certain reservations about "Schluchtenscheißern" (Bavarians, Austrians, etc.), "Fischköppen" (North Germans), or "Ossis" (people from the former GDR).
