While this game was heavily overshadowed by the release of Half Life 2, there is a reason why it remains a cult classic to this day.
Bloodlines is an RPG from an era when the label actually meant something. There are branching paths, multiple playstyles, (you can beat most of it without killing anyone), etc. The developers were also not afraid to feature politically incorrect humor and attractive female characters.
It is also the only game where you can role-play as an incel. If you choose to be a Nosferatu, (ugly vampire) going too close to NPCs will cause them to call the police on you due to how hideously ugly you are. (You can even cause an old woman to die from a heart attack after seeing your subhuman face). In addition to this, you will not be able to raise your seduction stat and even prostitutes will reject you. On the bright side, the leader of the Nosferatu will accept you into his clan (If you play as a seduction-focused vampire, he threatens to pour acid on your face instead), and grant you a place to live in the sewers.
If you have not played Bloodlines yet, I would highly recommend it. While the combat suffers from the expected early 3D jank, the game has genuine heart and soul. Just make sure that you download the Unofficial Patch that fixes all of the bugs and optimizes everything for modern hardware.
