This is so relatable. I'm a software engineer with 1.5 years of experience. Since graduation, I have submitted more than 300 resume. I worked for 4 companies during 1.5 years. 2 was good, 2 was bad . Unfortunately, they are all contract jobs. I am having a good contract job now but I'm looking for a full time one. Job interviews are the worst, sometimes they ask for 4 hours of coding test, other time is 3 hours of in person interview with many managers. I really don't want to go back to finding a job after this contract job end

yeah, if companies are anything like what I've seen... they're like...
1. too many bosses and managers sucking up most of the money, they will never share their power or prosperity under any circumstance. there's already too many so you won't ascend to their position even if hypercompetent.
2. some overworked guys doing 3 jobs at once for the company and being 24/7 on call, NEVER properly appreciated or compensated by the former.
3. a bunch of hanger-ons doing little work, this is where most of the women and diversity hires go. practically useless and carried by the former.

some new guy coming in doesn't fit into either three of these. he's not in the special club like 1, hypercompetent right out of college like 2, diverse like 3

he's going to have to sweat massively to get anywhere, like someone trying to date a normal girl in 2020

5 years of applying I was rejected 1,235 times so I quit applying into the abyss and started working for myself this year. Tech companies can live in their corporate bubble and search for "perfect" people. Which does not exist everybody lies. Corporate culture is not me and I have not looked back ever since. I rather do it the hard way for my family and myself. Josh I'm with you I recently deleted my LinkedIn after 5 years. I was nothing more than a ego stroking contest for most of these people. I am going through the same thing on my own making a difference. Keep up the great work you have my support. I got sick of the excuses so i stopped in late 2018 and have not applied anywhere since not going to waste my time anymore. There are too many fake people on the internet.
