When you are a truecel like me, the only way to somewhat hide your ugliness is to... be basic as possible. Popular, crazy haircuts and standing out expensive clothes make you stand out in the group of people, you are bringing more attention onto yourself. People start noticing you and observe you more closely than they normally would. This in turn makes them see all your imperfections in better detail. So literally the "get a haircut" or "wear nice, expensive clothes" advices are bad for truecels. You'd be better off with a basic haircut, probably not kept too well, don't use to much product, etc and of course wear some cheap basic clothes. Trying as a truecel makes you look like a tryhard and it's worse than not trying (even if SOYciety will tell you otherwise).

Damn ur right, my facial structure doesn’t look all that bad with bed head type hair but when it’s combed and well groomed I just look ugly as sin.

I don't try to look better most because it's over already, I do the basics like trimming, simple haircuts. But actual tryharding I avoid, there's no point doing that.

I personally try to dress like a homeless thug outside of work in order to somewhat camouflage my ugliness

Me too, the first time I read this one I almost cried tbh. It was maybe two years ago.

It was so relatable yet so painful and it was rightfully mocking every pathetic attempt I had at making things better. All the while people around me were just living normally, with no clue of what this "self improvement" meant.

Same except I didn't cry because I was long into depression state that washed me out of emotions when I first read it. But the nofap part always gets me. I was always exposing this BS cope for what it is.
