I wonder who did this or even understands this. In a new environment with possible group projects or assignments you would preemptively count the number of people, and when there was an uneven number of people you would panic because that means everyone with end up in a group of 2 except you.

The teacher would just put me in a group. They'd either make me do all the work or purposefully exclude me from discussions to make me look bad.

the teacher always was the one who signed me in a group so i didn't have to worry about not finding a group to work with plus people always wanted to work with me since i am always the one who do all the assignments
