Thoughts on choice-based games?

The quarry

And most recently, Dispatch. Some comic book type game where there’s apparently a lot of foid romance options. Seems like it could be entertaining. Might get it if it’s on sale.

I feel like that's common among most games made by Telltale.

Detroit has a lot of problems but at least the choices matter there.

Most of the time, the choices don't really matter.

This is my biggest problem with these games, There are not actual branching pathways as you always get to the same story beats no matter what you do.

While woke as shit and kind of a shit game, it is one of only games I've played where each little individual choice has a huge impact on the game.

Most actual RPGs are choice based, like baldurs gate

99% of them suck because your choices don’t affect the story in the slightest. The only good one i played was detroit become human. Most developers are too lazy to put multiple endings and choices so they give you the illusion of having 4 choices which all lead to 1 outcome.

This is my favourite game. Season 2 didn't come out, but seeing how they made Clem a lesbian in S4, I don't care.
