I'm late to the trend and the hype for this game has died out at least a couple of months ago, but since this is a topic of passion I gotta write my thoughts about it, which aren't much because this game has no content.
And what do I mean with no content? I mean that this is not a videogame, this is a glorified TV show and should not even be considered a Telltale style game, because in Telltale games the QTEs actually matter and you have to walk around and get things, actually interact with the game. In Dispatch the only gameplay you get is: Dispatching, mindblowing. You sit in a desk, send these shitty villains to save the day and before and after your shifts you get a ton of dialogue with the characters, which are not really interesting in my opinion. The best are the first ones you meet, you got Blonde Blazer, which honestly was a pretty nice character; she treats you well and is nice to talk to, then you have Royd and Chase, one of them being the mechanic that will fix your Mecha-Man suit and the other one being a former superhero that took care of you when you were a child, respectively.
Invisigal is cool but she's a bitch for almost the entire game. She was the one I chose to romance, she seemed more interesting than Blonde Blazer. And that's almost everything the game has to offer, I honestly think this "game" was just a big gooner bait and is praised for it even if people don't want to admit it, outside of the romance options and these couple interesting characters, you don't have anything. The gameplay is bland, the choices aren't actually that impactful and the QTEs are blatant lies, and once again. Just like in my Dead Island 2 rant, you are not the hero of the story. At least not in the way you should be, at the end of the game you get your Mecha-Man suit back and have to fight off the Red Ring, the main supervillain gang. And you don't do shit, every single time you get to fight somebody you either share the fight with someone else and let them beat your opponent for you, or you hit QTEs for at least twenty seconds to not land a single blow and get your shit rocked, while you watch the Z-Team (the heroes you are responsible for) beat everyone's asses while you are getting robbed of the action, the action of actually defeating someone I mean.
You can argue that Robert(The Player) was the hero for training the Z-Team and helping them become who they are now but I just don't like that. I'm playing a VIDEOGAME, I want to see my character in action, I want to kick ass, not watch others kick ass for me. And I got a counter argument for that cuz in the end of the day the actual MVP is Chase, the old guy, so the training didn't matter for shit.
SPOILER
Chase gets Blonde Blazer's necklace and gains her superpowers, matched with his superspeed he speedblitzes through the main villains robot and fucks up his ability to predict things and he ends up getting his ass beat by the Z-Team and you.
The writing is just so garbage here, it's the kind of reddit humor that thinks it's funny for making a shit ton of sex jokes and swearing all the time and it's insufferable, the worst offender here are the women of the game, by far the characters I hated the most was Sonar and Malevola, Sonar is voice acted by Cr1TiKaL and he's so ass, he couldn't express any kind of emotion even if his life was on the line, I dislike Malevola simply for having a shitty British/Aussie accent and sounding like she's got a dick stuck in her throat, her jokes don't help either.
I'd talk about the ending of the game but it's so trash I don't feel like mentioning it. Long story short, this game is bad. This is not a videogame and all the glaze comes from normies who love movie-game slop. It's fun sometimes and the dialogues feel natural enough, but all your joy is killed off the moment you get to the actual gameplay that adds nothing to experience, not only it adds nothing, it takes from it for how bad it is. Adding the fact that the game fumbles the bag in the climax and it has completely forgettable designs and story, ends up giving you a bittersweet, lackluster experience. Reddit needs to step out of the game industry immediately, I am tired.
