For real. Canonically, one in three people in the Chainsaw Man verse die to Devil attacks despite them being constantly hunted and fought, yet somehow being a Devil Hunter is a no-skill, low-status job comparable to being a sex worker (implied by what Kobeni says about having to decide between the two due to not receiving any support from her parents when it comes to getting into a university), with a notable amount of the ones we see being broken people from hopeless backgrounds. I mean, I'm sorry
? Realistically, being a Devil Hunter should have about as much prestige as being a doctor, a policeman and a soldier put together, if not more.

And that would be what average Devil Hunters would experience, not the enigmatic, mysteriously powerful attractive young women with inexplicably high-status in their organisation given their age, like Makima. Those would be absolute media darlings, and since late 90s, which is when the series takes place, was when the internet was just about completely unregulated and schizo ranters thrived, there should be like thousands of random websites consisting just of schizo rants about this mysterious young woman who seems to have come out of nowhere to lead the most important Devil Hunter division in Japan. Rumors of her immortality would definitely be spreading, and a couple of those schizos would certainly come creepily close to fully unearthing her true identity and nature.
It's even wilder since Denji, in his identity as Chainsaw Man, was a well-known celebrity often talked about on the TV even in Part One, and seeing a report on himself, and the way he was seen by random women, was one of the things that helped keep his morale up when he, Kobeni and Kishibe were on the run from Makima and preparing for the final clash with her, yet Makima herself, his superior, is never implied to be anything but obscure and unknown to the public?
