A foid recently got hired. At the workplace, people have various backgrounds but it turns out she has the same degree as I do (not saying which). A few days after she started, a welcome email was sent to staff. A well connected boomer (or perhaps older Gen X'er) is an expert in our degree. He sends her an email, happy to know that she's in that same field of study. The thing is, I had been trying to network with this guy, but the way it looks this girl will probably take first dibs in whatever opportunity he knows about. Another good opportunity down the toilet. And she's also showing signs of being a pain in the ass.
As an aside, I know of at least two instances where foids where contacted out of the blue for opportunities.
