My evidence is based on observation, but virtually every woman I have met that is a dedicated wife with a stable marriage and kids grew up with a tough, nearly tyrant Dad, and has admitted to getting the occasional beatdown. In contrast, girls that switch partners or divorce after a couple of years "because they weren't happy" have been coddled.
