No it’s literally what other countries call national service and give conscientious objectors the option of doing. 18 year old Kai isn’t going to be a soldier in Britain. He’s going to sent to a nursing home to care for Doris and Hazel.


In most countries you’re given a choice. Serve in the army or volunteer in a nursing home or whatever. In Britain you aren’t going to have the choice because they don’t want British kids routinely learning that guns don’t just jump off shelves and kill people randomly so the kid here will be just volunteering. They made that clear under the Sunak administration when they first planned doing this.



Conscription goes one of three ways.


Israel: army only. Conscientous objectors go to jail.


Germany/ Greece/ Norway: army as default but conscientous objectors can volunteer in a nursing home.


Britain: volunteering only. No army option for conscripts. Army remains only professional soldiers who have been vetted to make sure they’re not heckin evil right wingers that don’t like Muhammad and Yassine coming in.
