When it comes to people like this, it's not even ragebait or trolling. They're not doing it for the "lulz". It's an extremely mentally ill person with an agenda.
It's like they have a unique blend of autism, neuroticism and schizophrenia that causes them to become hyper-focused on some esoteric "issue" and spend their lives flooding the internet about it over and over with the hopes that their spamming will have some sort of real world impact.
I've encountered a lot of posters like this online and they're annoying as fuck. They were common on r9k way back when I used it, i'm sure that hasn't changed. They'd spam the same thread over and over, and repeatedly bump their own thread and engage in obvious samefagging ("samefags" are what we used to call users who'd make multiple posts trying to give off the impression they were different users, often replying to their own posts, not sure if that term is used anymore).
If only there were some way to take these people's internet away.

Usually it's pretty obvious when someone's trolling. I think that the people who spam these kind of posts probably think that what they're doing qualifies as trolling, but like you said, they actually only do it because they have some sort of agenda or underlying belief behind it.
I really like 4chan, just by virtue of the fact that there aren't many other social media websites that I can use that don't actively rot my brain. However, some boards are just genuinely unbearable to use.
/r9k/ is just filled with genuine faggots,

/gif/ is all just trannies posting porn,
and various other boards that are just filled with retards.
/pol/ is alright I guess, I don't think it has entirely fallen. I do like to go on /biz/ from time to time, but most of the time it's just gambling addicts who buy shitcoins and pray that something works—but if you make a post, they'll usually attempt to give you pretty good advice. I've also started to use /x/ more, since I really do like the posts there.
/pol/ is unironically the worst board on the entire site, all the current problems of every single board on 4chan are a result of /pol/'s existence.
I think a lot of the genuine good posts end up always getting drowned out by faggots who put out blatant bait. Even then, I swear that even the worst post on /pol/ is legions better than the typical engagement slop you'd find on other social media. I used Twitter for a few months and actually could feel my mind rot away.
I can't help it—I want to be talking about stuff, engaging in politics! But I hate Discord, and I despise practically all other social media platforms. That's why I usually go to /pol/. I don't really know where else I would go.
Yeah the blue board are usually much better, but they are slower.
I check /out/ and /diy/ sometimes but they are very slow because the average channer doesn't go out and has no skill.

The last handful of times I went on there, I'd always come across these obvious LARP threads where the OP was a tankie or some kind of far leftist arguing a point that was purposely inflammatory, and users would fall for it almost every single time.
People are fools for feeding the trolls like this, but when we live in an era where political ideologicals are staunchly divided online, these instances can happen. I feel like a lot of people in general are just fed up with the aforementioned demographics, so when they see something that even remotely resembles a leftist echo chamber, their response is to take it at face value and involuntarily attack it.
