I don't know how many people on here are old enough to remember hotornot.com when it was actually a phenomenon, but I was in high school and college when everybody was on there. It was a normie website. Chads and Stacies used it.
No, "dis is just a dating website, hurr durr."
The old format was a 1-10 rating system ("only incels rate people like that!" - Reddit moron) with millions of people posting their pictures on there to be rated.
I experimented with it myself. I'd post some Chads on there, as well as some women.
The rating system was as follows: The total score was based on the percentage of people you rate higher than. A 9.9 would mean you rate higher than 99% of the users on the website. An 8.4 would mean you rate higher than 84%.
On the other hand, you could also look at a breakdown of how many people rated you each number from 1 to 10.
Guess what the differences were for men vs. women on there.
To be a woman with a 9.9, you had to have almost entirely 10s.
To be a man with a 9.9, being mostly 7s and 8s was enough.
It was EXTREMELY slanted in that direction. A woman who received mostly 6s and 7s would be like a 6.8. A man who received those ratings would be like a 9.3.
That was actually when I learned that women find most men hideous. I knew long before the OKCupid study came out.
Anybody trying to pretend the OKCupid study isn't accurate is either clueless or delusional.
Even funnier is how many women openly admit they find most men unattractive. Just look on R/AskWomen, etc.
