In reality, their economic system was corporatist, neither capitalist nor communist, copied from Fascist Italy.
The problem with corporatism is that corporations end up being allies of the state, and it is the working class that remains at the bottom of the social ladder, without the ability to decide on anything.
Although it can be argued that the National Socialists implemented "socialist" measures, such as improving working conditions, providing paid vacations, and offering housing to families with many children, they were definitely collectivists, in their own way.
They didn't expropriate the means of production, which completely distances them from Marxism, although they were supposed to be controlled, it was a state-directed economy. I believe it was the Feder brothers who favored implementing these more "socialist" measures in the old style.
