Theory The main point of Christmas and New Year seems to be to get people through winter without it getting them down too much

True?

It seems to me anyway.

I love winter

It’s summer during christmas in cuckstralia so wtf is the point of it here then ?

It wouldn’t make sense because those holidays are at the beginning of winter so they would be normally in January but let’s say that Christmas and New Year Eve have that effect

Interesting!

Is it pushed as aggressively there?

Like are you strongly looked down upon if you don't do anything for it?

No it's a consumerism season to make them spend all their savings on useless shit.

It just seems so odd to me that the colder the weather gets, the more people push events.

Summer has no events. Spring and autumn have one each and they're not pushed too hard. Winter has two and BOTH are pushed REALLY hard!!

I kind of feel like maybe people are afraid that if they don't push them like this, people might stop celebrating them and then they'll have to get through winter without anything to help them through it.

Ironically I feel more depressed during December than November or January.

I think that if you don't do anything for these events it can be depressing but also if you do it can be overwhelming and stressful, and give you very little meaningful time to yourself.

Christmas is formost a time that was used to get together. In pre industrialization it was the Fest of remembering the dead and socializing with ones community - some people still do just that today.

Only those days, especially as a Gen Z, one might simply lack the money, socials or religious (Christian) ambitions to follow christmas tradition. There is no Christmas for a lonely person or someone who only values money - thats why more people arent reluctant from working on christmas.

Increasingly more the meaning for Christmas is disappearing as today Christmas is formost used to let consumers consume even more. Waste their money on shit the dont need.

I know it has historical roots of course... but it's the intensity with which modern people push it, that's the thing that stands out to me.

And yah the people who value only money they are like Scrooge!

And the people who don't... many of them are lonely too anyway >.<

The Fall and end-capitlization of traditional values and events like Christmas is what we will soon see.

Living standards are increasing in all sectors, quality of life falling.

Blackpill becoming mainstream
