A lot of different incels really overestimate what it means to be a friend, or rather, they think they are friends with someone, when it's probably more likely they just think of you as an acquaintance.
Here's how I would define a friend, ask yourself these things if the person in question is actually a friend, because he may actually just be an acquaintance that you overestimate to be a friend, or even worse, a FAKE friend:
1. Would your friend humiliate you to increase his own status? You should be able to be a flawed imperfect human around a friend, you should be able to trust them not to humiliate you behind your back just so that they increase their own social status. This excludes 90% of people you probably thought are friends. NEWS FLASH, a person who enjoys humiliating you is no friend.
2. Is there a sense of mutual respect? The power balance should feel reciprocated. If you text something, does he respond? If you invite him, does he come? Does he tell you if he's gonna be late? Does he ever invite you or do anything to make the friendship not feel like you are putting all the work in? A friendship should feel like a safe game of pingpong that's always being played.
3. Does the person make you safe? It should feel right that among a crowd of strangers that you'd probably enjoy spending time with this person the most unless some bitch is there and she wants to suck your dick (unlikely). You should personally enjoy spending time with a friend, because they offer a sense of shared belonging or stability in your life. You should be able to meet with a friend IN REAL LIFE, because you TRUST them. If you aren't willing to meet someone you talk to on discord then they aren't a friend.
The reality is that a lot of incels can't even have friends because everyone that we let into our lives just wants to use us or humiliate us in some way so they are able to pivot to higher status friends.
