This is only a small portion of this forum, but there's a certain type of user here who thinks part of the reason people don't like him is because he's "too high IQ". But even if they were a terrible measure of actual IQ, that still wouldn't change the fact that IQ is very much a thing in the sense that cognitive abilities vary greatly from person to person. Regardless of our ability to measure "true" intellectual aptitude, it's obvious that not everyone has the intellectual capability to become an engineer or a lawyer no matter how hard they tried.

I think I somewhat used to be this way—primarily just because I used to speak a lot more ‘sophisticated’ than other people, which made me think I was way smarter than I actually was. I mistook ‘thinking harder and longer’ to be somehow equal to having a high IQ when that wasn’t the case at all, and was actually a sign of the opposite.
