He said he struggles with money because he went to theology college and cant find a job. I asked him does he get payed for being a priest, he said no, he only helps the other priests.

I was an altar boy in Orthodox Church for 12 years and saw many interesting things. Can confirm that even in Church no one likes ugly men. There was one man, ugly but he managed to get married. He was in choir, worked in university and was good in financial terms but still he wasn't respected.
People were overly critical towards him and then his wife divorced him. My grandmother once said that he was ugly like a Judas, even it is a gravely insult for Christians to call someone a Judas just because of his looks.
There was also good-looking narcissistic priest. No one liked him, even other priests, because of his personality but he was successfully married. So much for 'persoonality'.
Generally, men and women who were happily married, were usually good-looking.

Single priests serve parishes all the time. It is certainly not a requirement to be married to serve a parish.

I read rules and there are two paths, white and black priesthood, white can get married and interact more with people, get their own parish and get payed good and even get housing. Black priesthood is probably higher rank but they live humble and restrain from all pleasures and are in permanent celibacy.

So its not about status in church, its just they live more normal and are financially secured because even church trust more married guys to handle people. Guy that I was working with obviously wanted that.
