Venting So tired of fakecells

When I went to university, I started talking with two classmates.
The first guy I talked to knew BP quite well which was a great feeling since he also had my sense of humor and understood what I said. He often said that he was ugly and that he would never find a girlfriend which was nonsense he was like an 8/10. After the first year, he got himself a girlfriend. When I asked him about it, he said it was only a fling and that they would break up and I shit you not he dead ass said 'just be confident and you will find gf'. Their relationship is still going to this day btw.
Now to the second guy. He only had TikTok knowledge about BP, but he was extremely funny to be around. This guy constantly 'joked' about not being able to find a girlfriend constantly. He kept saying 'he didn’t need a woman in his life' and 'that he was scared of them'. And you guessed it he got himself a girlfriend.
I dont get why people make things up. I genuinely thought I had found someone with the same struggle as me. That I wasnt really alone in this. Why would they go for years pretending to be something theyre not? Am I that fucking naive that I cant see when theyre lying?
