I was thinking of coping with a new car. my current one is a piece of shit and almost on its way out.
i narrowed it down to a few choices within the entry level luxury segment. i looked at acura, genesis, kia, bmw, and a few other brands.
i asked the opinions of a few friends and co-workers and the general consensus is that the BMW is the best choice. as a car enthusiast who knows quite a bit about these cars, i can tell you for a fact that the other competing cars (the g 70 in particular) are an absolutely better package. in most cases they have more power, more standard features, more luxury amenities, better tech, etc. than the german chad rivals. the "prestige" factor that the bmw brings to the table trumps all of that stuff however. nobody seemed to care when i told them you get more horsepower, more features, more comforts, and all at a better price. all they said was "lol, almost 50k for a hyundai" or "i would never spend that much on an asian car" lol
.
the genesis won motor trends 2019 car of the year award - beating out all its german rivals, which is a prestigious honor, and shows just what a great package it is. yet, in the eyes of the commoner, none of this matters. as soon as i said the price tag (i have a great deal in place), they all blankly stared at me and were in awe that id pay "that much" for "that car". and like i said, i have a great deal on the table. but if i switched the brands, then it was magically somehow ok to pay that much - even though im getting far less car for my buck.
similar to how you can have the greatest personality, amazing and interesting hobbies, a fun sense of humor, etc. but at the end of the day if you are not a german chad car you wont even get noticed.
which car should i get?
