Nah it would've just been endless fighting. They would constantly be stepping on each other's toes and even if they suddenly made up and decided to slice it up nicely, the colonists on the ground would've just ignored them anyways and go right back to fighting each other. It was about seizing land from the Native Americans, which the British was opposed to as westward expansion would destroy their alliances with them after they fought against French Canada. The high taxes was just a cover up.
