I know for a lot of users 2010 seems like a long time ago, as that was your childhood, but I'm middle aged and it seems extremely recent to me. It therefore stands out more to me for how ridiculous it is, because I know how everything changed into an unrecognizable world.
I know the popular view is just to blame the Jews for everything, and while Jews - especially secular Jews - certainly played a big role in establishing the foundation for what we now see as SJW/woke/globohomo/clown world ideology, there is a huge difference between the pre-Reddit subverted world and what we have today.
It used to be that this shit - the radical feminism in particular, which is what really started everything else that followed from it - was fringe in the Democrat party, and only in Commiefornia was it taken seriously on any real level.
In the 2000s, we were moving the opposite direction. We were moving the South Park (although now they're fags too) direction. "Offensive jokes are good. Eminem was right. Even racist jokes are good. Free speech. Fuck off."
Then they did a complete 180.
Why?
It started with The Great Digg Migration in August of 2010, when Digg.com redesigned its website and pissed off its users. Millions swarmed to Reddit as a substitute.
The very next month, September of 2010, the subreddit, R/ShitRedditSays, was created. This was where SJWism took off.
The moderators of the R/ShitRedditSays forum had come over from SomethingAwful.com. Since 2008, they had been ruining that website by promoting the SJW shit, but it had previously been contained over there.
I watched this gay shit go from Reddit to the rest of the internet. For whatever reason, this idiocy that would've been laughed at on any other website became a movement over there. I suspect it's a combination of the high prevalence of Eurotrash and Canadian users - who don't share the United States's view of free speech - and subversion from enemies of western nations, that are responsible.
I think the United States users saw all of the dorks agreeing with it and went, "oh, this is what we Democrats are doing now?" They felt the peer pressure to conform. They went from being free speech absolutists to complete faggots. They didn't realize that these "Democrats" were Eurotrash and Canadian dorks who have nothing to do with us.
Remember that the rest of the world follows the lead of the United States and our media, hence our dumbasses falling for this shit on Reddit is why non-American countries have further indulged in it.
I joined Reddit in 2012 and, after having a comment of mine posted on R/ShitRedditSays, went, "what the fuck is this shit? Are these people serious?" I had never seen anybody on Twitter, youtube, or any other forum who actually believed any of this insanity.
By 2015, it was everywhere else on the internet. Then it reached all the boomers and older people who barely even used the internet. It reached television. It reached Donald Trump.
I also watched other obnoxious Reddit trends become ubiquitous. The SRS lingo, for example, bastardized the English language.
"Edgy" used to mean avant-guarde. Now it means "offensive."
I think that this actually originated from people not knowing that SRS users were being sarcastic when they accused "shitlords" (another of their coinages) of being "edgy" and "brave." They were mocking the idea that offensive humor is "edgy," and people mistakenly thought they were being sincere in their use of the adjective and that "edgy" was synonymous with "offensive."
I watched as irritating dipshits started calling everything "cringy" and "cringe." Cringe had never been anything other than a verb before, but thanks to R/Cringe, now it's any part of speech you want it to be. The Britfags invented "cringeworthy" in the 1970s as a comic book character, by the way. "Cringy" is not and will never be a valid word, unless you're referring to somebody who is doing the cringing. If I'm cringy, that means I am cringing...probably at some soy Reddit dork.
Of course, everything somebody doesn't like is "cringe"/"cringy" now.
Along the way, we had some contrived controversies to give us the current clown world:
In 2012, we had gamergate, where poor radfems were being literally raped by words.
In 2013, we had George Zimmerman getting rightly acquitted for defending himself against poor, innocent black child Trayvon Martin, who just couldn't help but double back to confront Zimmerman after Zimmerman called police after watching him walking on people's lawns and look in their windows, which isn't suspicious at all because you're waissis. He just couldn't help but break Zimmerman's nose and slam his head into the concrete. He dindu nuffin. Hence Black Lives Matter bullshit began.
In 2015, we had Brucelyn Jenner, who was stunning and brave.
Then we had "Mexico's not sending their best"...and the avatar of the resistance movement was created - a social liberal who said that Brucelyn Jenner could use whatever bathroom it wants in Trump Tower, which is insane. But he said some of these illegal aliens, errr, undocumented migrants, are rapists, therefore he's literally Hitler.
That's how we got here.
Of course, there was never a good time to be an ugly man, but the insufferable gaslighting you're receiving is only possible because of this shit. In any other era, Joe and Steve would just make fun of you for being a virgin and say you need to get a hooker. Now Cameron, Seth, Addison, and Aiden tell you you're a "toxic manbaby" and it's all because of your personality.
tl;dr: Reddit isn't just a joke of a website. It literally ruined the world.
