Jesus' Resurrection as a Historical Fact
how is it historical fact when it is never recorded by non-christian sources? "the bible said that" is circular. you have to assume that god wrote/inspired the bible to prove god. even the gospel account indicates that the resurrection story is probably fabricated. four gospels mostly align before the resurrection account, but suddenly differs drastically after jesus died.
The Gospels say that hundreds of people saw Jesus alive after the cross
if you are referring to 1 Cor. 15:6, it's actually "the bible wrote that paul claimed he knew someone(s) who claimed to have seen jesus alive after the cross". again, why should we trust the bible, or paul, or that "someone" who claimed to have seen jesus alive. even if they were not delibrately lying, ppl believing in things has nothing to do with its validity.
a lie doesn't justify mass martyrdom and the transformation of the disciples from cowards into public preachers.
the same is true for islam, or most religion i know. does the death of muslim terrorists prove that there is indeed a heaven with 72 virgins? no, it just proves that they really believed what they are told. ppl believing in things has nothing to do with its validity.
Fulfillment of Prophecy The Old Testament contains prophecies written centuries earlier about the Messiah
NT authors had the OT for reference. the authors, especially matthew, worked very hard to prove jesus was the messiah. even so, most so-called fulfilled prophecies were either too vague or just intepretated wrongly (i.e. virigin birth, birth in bethelem, emmanuel, suffering servant, etc)
Many find this explanation more realistic of the human condition than other views.
that's not an argument. obviously christians would thought their view is more realistic. why am i not surprised. care to read Nietzsche's The Antichrist?
Character and Teachings of Jesus
that's also not even an argument. most religious figures, by their followers' accounts, are respectable and heroic.
Personal and Historical Transformation
so does other religions or political ideologies. how is christianity any special.
Jesus not only taught the way, he said he was the way
that's not even an argument. when you follow someone's teaching, obviously this guy is "the way", whether he said it or not. and, a teaching that is not attached to a person is obviously superior to another teaching that relies on a person's authority.
Solves the problem that Buddhism identifies
no christianity doesnt solve the problem. christianity, or other mono-theistic religions or forms of idol worship, actually worsens the problem. by assuming the existence of god, christianity validates the realness of fleeting six dusts, thus completely obstructs nirvana.
Grace vs. Effort Almost every religion says: "Do this to reach God." Jesus says: "I came down to you." That changes everything. You don't climb the ladder, God comes down.
this argument doesn't count since only protestants believe this. this just explains why the religion is popular. you don't need to do anything, and lazy ppl like that.
This shows a God who doesn't run from suffering, but enters into it to rescue.
rescue how? even if jesus was god, he died for 3 days then he fucked off, went to his sky daddy's . has the world changed a bit before or after he died? history is circular.
