Taking portable consoles with you isn't appealing as an adult

When you're a child you take portable consoles with you because you're being driven around by your parents and you want to use as much of your free time as possible before you go to bed. As an adult, even if I am being driven by someone else I don't want to take a portable console with me because I know I can just play it at home. When I'm in a doctor's office I don't want to play a portable console because other people will look at me like I'm an autistic man child.


I don't really get all these people buying carrying cases for their Nintendo switches and steam decks. When are you actually going to play your handheld on the go? When you're on a plane?

I do take my Moga Pro controller with me when I am going to be at a place for awhile. It is a pain in the ass playing a lot of emulators on mobile without a controller. My phone sits in it and I can also use it as a phone stand.

Being able to access my main gaming account anywhere is not a bad thing but I would never carry around a giant tablet like the switch. Let's see if Sony can figure this out with a PSP like device.

I guess how bad it looks as an adult can depend a fair bit on how the console looks, the exact setting, whether the sound is on... even to some degree the exact game you're playing.
