I’m a type 1 who is also a girl in her 20’s, and I like to wear crop tops/sleeveless tops/ shorts that often show my Dexcom and Omnipod. For a lot do my life, people have seen that as an invitation to comment on my devices (ask questions/ ask for advice/ etc.) and I never had too much of a problem with it until this incident that just occurred.
I was at a Tim Hortons getting a pack of donut holes for a get-together with my friends, and there was another guy there who was waiting on his order. Before I could go up to the counter the man got both of his drinks but stood there with a small smile on his face looking at me while I ordered. I barely got the words “Can I please get a 20 pack of timbits” out before the guy butted in and said “I know what that is on your arm, are you sure you should be eating those?” I was so shocked that I kinda just stared at him, and he left right after he said it. Meaning that he had everything he needed. Saw a Diabetic in a donut shop. And waited for her to order something sweet just so he could be snotty.
Once again, I try not to let comments get to me too often as I know people are normally just curious, but this really upset me because it makes me feel like I can’t just wear my devices without people looking at me under a microscope. Sorry for the rant, just needed to scream into the void to other diabetics and ask how you guys deal with constant questions and comments?
SUMMARY FOR DNRCELS: Basically an HCLmaxxing T1D foid was whoring out (I consider crop tops whore clothes) buying doughnuts for a get together, when a based low inhib man says "I know what that is, you shouldn't be eating that". Based and low inhib.
Meanwhile her looksmatch is dying from DKA.
Tagging @Blackpill Monk because he is also T1D, and the two lowest inhib members @Dollfucker @coping_manlet
