So for context Im on my last 3 weeks until I can finish trade school for HVAC and get a HVAC certifacate. But just like that Im thinking about jumping ships to electrical. And to do that I need to upgrade the meter quite a bit from this:

A Fluke T6 1000. Or a clamp meter with the clamp replaced with a jaw. A jawmeter. Well this jaw meter can do quite a bit more then my current clamp meter. It can mesure AC volts from the jaw on a live line. And amps both at the same time. It can probably do other shit I dont know about that the clamp meter cant do. It probably has better readings of all 3 of the messurements. And has easyer to manage cords since the ones on my clamp meter get tangled up all the fucking time.

But as time passes by, I relize Id much rather do electrical then HVAC as I need less shit to carry, better pay and I have a much better understanding of electrical then HVAC. Hell the only reason why Im passing HVAC is because of my over mercifull instructor. So theres a bunch of shit Im oblivous to in HVAC that I was already taught.

But think of it like this. Electrical is the nerdy version of plumbing. Literally. Plumbing is easy enough to learn you can learn it drunk and Im not joking. Plumbing is extremly easy on a mental standpoint. You will have to work that body since it has a 10 percent construction spell mixed in. But electrical. Alot less construction going on but you do need to learn a bit of it. Less shit to smell. Not as many heavy ass tools to bring as Plumbing or HVAC and HVAC has its own big ass fair share of tools needed.

Electrical is harder to learn then plumbing but not as hard as HVAC. Infact HVAC needs you to know electrical as do many other trades. I really enckurage you (if you dont have a crime record or shitty driving record) to learn electrical. Itll make for a good fucking trade. Less wear on your body then plumbing. Better pay then HVAC. And less tools needed then either trade. But another thing. If you want to get in the trades. Better to be in the drivers seat then passengers seat. You gotta commit to it to get gud.

Fluke is also a type of worm

I don't know the history of it bro
Buy hopefully the future hystory of me and the fluke meter will be one of legendary pay.

Lifefuel for electriciancels!

Is this a geigercounter like in Fallout? :feelsokman:
That is a clamp meter. That clamp peice allows you to measure amperage. You put it on one side of the circute. If you put it on both side itll cancle out and read zero amps.

Nice! My multimeter died a few months ago

Well as I type this Ive had the fluke for a couple of weeks. Even made some thread about it but a couple words kf advice if you want it.

If you use the jaw for volt measuring, have a proper ground setup or be ready to use the RMS equation as the jaw without a ground will give you the peack to peack voltage instead of RMS.

Another thing, the jaw is not as easy to use as shown on youtube videos, you need to get the wire at the very bottom jaw for it to read a damn thing. And another thing. You can get the pro but youll be missing out on a feuture were the non pro version has this metal peice allowing you to use your finger as a ground.

Amperage, wattage, volts, tension, it is too difficult :feelsUgh:

It would be simpler if they simply called it eletricity :feelsokman:
I dont recall there being tension but theres resistance. Think of it like this. Voltage is pressure. Amperage is the current or water. Ohmage/resistance is what is choking the water to a smaller diameter pipe.

Those will be the most common measurements youll be using. The only time electrical is hard is when your doing some cluster fuckery but youll.never have tk worry about that in residential electrical. 2 days ago from typing this I suprisingly found a use for a rotary hammer. Turns out somone did a half ass job insyalling a junction box and I needed somthing to drill in concreate. Turns out a rotary hammer will make quick fucking work of concreate walls.
