Society underestimates how hard it is to actually be self sufficient in todays world where the cost of living is becoming higher and higher and the wages aren’t going up getting a job is obviously the first step towards becoming self sufficient but it’s not that black and white to where you can graduate from high school or college then get a job paying 10 dollars an hour and buy a house that’s a fairytale now being self sufficient takes more effort than that alot more people act like all you need to be self sufficient is a job and a car
