I actually had a similar feeling when my pet rabbit was stolen, heh

I felt some degree of relief because of the burden she had been to take care of.

But now I feel awful and I miss my little bunny all the time

I don't think there was much I could have done to get her back though. They probably didn't even steal the rabbit but probably just the hutch, and it wasn't at my house and the police said there weren't cameras around there at that time at least. This was ages ago now.

I feel terrible about it to this day and this guy seems to be coping just fine and he lost a CHILD.

But to be fair feeling bad probably wouldn't benefit him at all so maybe it's for the best he is able to move on.

I do think it's a good thing to have children though.
