Putin has just signed a decree that allows for troops to enter the two regions (Donetsk and Luhansk) for “peacekeeping". Problem is, more than 60% of the region is under heavy Ukraine control, so "troops to enter the region" means invading it and killing all of the resistance.

Is that what's really gonna happen? Will Ukraine fight and hold? Who'll win, and how long this "conflict" will last? Finally, will Russia stop there or is this just the first step of many? Share your thoughts!

• The alternative is letting Putin get the Donbass region, retreating into the closer territories fortifying those, hoping Putin wont instantly continue and extend the invasion to the rest of Ukraine (but he will, eventually, that is pretty clear); all to have enough time for NATO reinforces to arrive (they could annex Ukraine to NATO overnight, if they really wanted... or needed)

But a NATO-Russia conflict is potentially a really dangerous one, given how Russia has already threatened the use of nuclear weapons (!). I think that no one (on the west) is mentally ready for these apocalyptic scenarios, meaning Putin has the upper blackmailing hand and could invade basically all the east up to Poland Hungary Slovakia Serbia and Bulgaria (included).
At that point, Russia is gonna be so strong that no one would be able to resist them anymore (nuclear threats or not). Like what happened with Hitler, a confrontation seems inevitable; the west has some hard choices to make.
