Falling asleep is a natural, involuntary process.

I’m all too aware :feelsbadman:

Just close your eyes and lay still. And don't think of anything. You'll fall asleep in 10 minutes. Works for me.

Nice joke. This past night, I've been doing exactly just like you said in your comment and, guess what? I didn't fall asleep.

No clue why I'm unable to sleep. One week ago, I could sleep more than 5 hours.

Take note that I'm probably suffering from protracted withdrawal (SSRI).

It takes practice.

Before you sleep, take a shower. Im serious.

Then when you lie down, relax your body, part by part. Start from your toes and move upwards to your legs, abdomen and upper body. Then your face.

Then Imagine your eyelids getting heavier.

If you do this right, you'll start seeing hypnagogic visions and you'll soon drift off to sleep.

But like I said, you'll need practice.

Like hearing random voices from random conversations, random stuff.

I just take 2 benadryl and I'm off

I have auditory hallucanations while I'm about to fall asleep, not visuals.

Auditory hallucinations accompany hypnagogic visions. I've heard strange chants, singing and even music.

They're all signs that the brain is shutting down to fall asleep.

I always make a mental note to go to bed on time, but then I often end up hanging out on this side while drinking one beer after another and smoking one cigarette after another

melatonin works well, helps to counteract being alert in front of pc
